The Prince of Peace of was organized on July 1, 1979 by the late Rev. Dr. Moses Garmon who pastored the Church for the first 16 years. In December 1995, Dr. Moses Garmon retired and Rev. Bruce E. Garmon, Sr. was installed as Pastor. After eight years of devoted service to the Church, Rev. Bruce E. Garmon, Sr., under the direction of God resigned from the position of Pastor. On, December 17, 2003 Rev. Eula C. Gaddis, II in accordance with the Constitution of The Prince of Peace MBC, accepted the call from the membership to become Pastor. Rev. Bruce E. Garmon, Sr. installed Rev. Gaddis on January 4, 2004.
The Prince of Peace is an independent Baptist Church, which means that Jesus Christ is the sole head of the Church. There are no Bishops, Boards, or Conventions or any other type of hierarchies that govern the Church; the Pastor is responsible to Christ Jesus and Him alone. As stated in resolution #1 of our Church Constitution, the Prince of Peace accepts the Bible as the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. It is the Bible, and the Bible alone (the Word of God) that governs this Church. Whatever issue may arise, the Bible will be used to determine the resolution.
There are two Scriptural Offices in the Baptist Church, the Preacher (Pastor, Elder, Presbyter, Bishop) (1 Timothy 3); and the Deacon (1 Timothy 3) . At Prince of Peace the Lord has blessed us with Associate Ministers (non-Pastors) that do the work of assisting the Pastor in the day-to-day operation of the Church. Although the Pastor has an open door (and open phone) policy to which you can feel free to contact him at any time day or night, he may not always available. Please feel free to call upon any of the Associate Ministers with your questions, concerns, problems, and difficulties. If they cannot personally help you, they will see to it that the Pastor is informed of your needs.
